Original Description:
Early Hand Forged Denglestock PA Dutch Scythe Sharpening Anvil. Measuring 7 5/8" long, the face is 1 1/4" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. Now what's a denglestock (also spelled dengelstock and a bunch of other ways as well), you ask? Well them old PA Dutch (German) farmers, being of a thrifty (also know as cheap) bunch, instead of grinding down their scythe blades, would stick the denglestock into a stump or the top of a fence post and using a cross... peen hammer (called the dengle of all things) would draw out the edge of the blade till it was sharp and then dress it with a stone. Pretty neat eh? This is in decent shape and was cleaned. This does have a steel face set into the wrought iron body and that is good other than a chip off of the one side. The body has lots of dings, this guy got used for more than it's original purpose. I did clean up the spike a little. This ain't minty but these guys weren't made to do a pretty job either. A collectible early hand forged PA farm tool for sure! All items for sale unless otherwise noted are purchased and in most cases professionally restored by me. I take pride in offering quality items. Not everything is perfect, but it is as I say it is. Also, I smoke a pipe, drink whiskey, both cheap and good, and cuss more in a hour than most folks do in a month. If any or all of the above bother's ya, well then we ain't got no reason to be doing business.RULES OF THE GAME - READ ME!I do my best to ship items as cheap as possible. The shipping method is determined by weight and in some cases, the overall size of the item. Both Ebay and PayPal charge sellers a fee on what they charge for shipping. That is 12% for domestic and 13% for international. Those fees along with the cost of the packing materials is factored into the shipping charge. It costs me more in fees to send a 2 lb package to California than it does to Ohio and a whole lot more to send the same package overseas and I cannot afford to pay those costs. This is a full time business for me and not something I do in my spare time. I do not ship via UPS or Fedex (and they sure ain't any cheaper). I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases. Just add the items to your shopping cart and request that I send an invoice, which I will do as soon as possible. Ebay does not refund the fees on shipping even if I do a partial refund and I would much rather have that money to buy more items to sell.I only reciprocate Feedback received unless you are a very regular customer. I leave feedback about once a week or so. Don't get excited if I don't leave you feedback right away. Just easier to sit down and do a bunch at a time for me.Any questions, feel free to email me. However, please keep in mind that I am NOT on-line 24 hours a day. Thank you.
