Lovely quality genuine 116 year old silver example, with a sprung hinged silver lid and with a serrated silver striker plate on the base. A scarce design, decorated with attractive embossed stylised Art Nouveau motifs in the corners and also in the centre (which acts as the cartouche). Further decorated with engraved flowers and foliage and it retains its silver attachment ring on the side. Weighs approx 18 grams. As a bonus there are no added personal engraved monograms. A very nice vesta.Measurements Measures approx. 1.85 inches (47mm) x 1.45 inches (35mm) and is 0.4 inches (9mm) deep.Date English antique Art Nouveau solid sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks for Chester 1903, (date letter "C"). Excellent clear struck matching marks on box and lid.Maker Silversmiths initials "R.Bs", (Rolason Brothers (1901 - 1905). Condition Excellent condition, with no splits or repairs, definitely no wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents, just teeny little surface bruises from normal use, really nothing much at all and a very nice example. The sprung lid hinge works perfectly opening and closing tightly and securely and the spring is still strong. Lovely scarce Art Nouveau design there are no added engraved monograms or crests.
