Mediastore/YamahaAVD External SCSI CD-R Drive
This auction is for a Mediastore AVD external SCSI CD-R drive. This drive features a Yamaha CDR400t-NB drive which is highly regarded for its excellent recording quality. It also has a jumper on the back to change block size. The switch is important for very old versions of UNIX that require a 512 byte block instead of the standard 2048 byte block on CD-ROMs.
The CD drive is NON-FUNCTIONAL! The drive turns on and will spin up a C...D; however, after a little while of spinning, it will automatically eject the disc. I'm not sure if the lens just needs cleaning or if it's a major hardware problem. As a result, the drive & enclosure is being sold COMPLETELY AS-IS for parts! Please see the pictures to see the unit turned on.
Physically, the drive is in good condition! The main issue is one rubber foot is missing. Otherwise, there is a small amount of dust/dirt in some crevices. Please view the pictures to see the condition of the unit for yourself!
NOTE THAT NO ACCESSORIES BESIDES THE DRIVE ITSELF IS INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION. To use this drive you must have a SCSI cable & standard 3-prong power cable.
