True vintage, extremely rare, R.J. Reynolds promotional tin litho sign for the famous Prince Albert Tobacco brand immortalizing Chief Joseph, Nez Perce. This beautiful, almost portrait like depiction of Chief Joseph with headdress and beads is stunning to behold. The red Prince Albert tobacco tin and the slogan, “ PRINCE ALBERT - the national joy smoke” along with “Compliments of R.J. Reyno...lds Tobacco Co.”are prominently displayed. Titled in the lower left corner, American Art Works Coshocton, OH. Produced in 1913. Size:22 inches by 28 inches, with frame 25 inches by 31 inchesCondition: Exquisite and vibrant colors with tons of character. Minor dings and scuffs. A wonderfully splendid example (see pictures).Provenance: Family owned. My grandfather was one of the leading sales representatives for R.J. Reynolds in the Northeast from the late 40's thru the mid 60's.This and other promotional signs hung in his office. They were passed down to me in 1974.
