Very fine vintage wooden jigsaw puzzle by J. Salmon of Sevenoaks, one of their "Academy" range. I have been advised that the puzzle is of c1926 manufacture and it features a painting by the British illustrator Gertrude Demain Hammond (1862-1952). It is entitled "Joan of Arc and the Dauphin".
This is a 400 piece solid mahogany jigsaw puzzle measuring 10 1/4" x 15 3/4", cut in the fully interlocking style. It is complete and in generally very good condition. The only notable flaws... are 2 or 3 pieces broken at narrow points, a common occurrence in solid wood puzzles. All pieces are present and fit perfectly in place. The puzzle comes complete with its original box which is in excellent condition.
