This highly-desirable piece is sometimes known as "WITCO Madonna" or "Our Lady of Perpetual WITCO". This piece measures 51" high and 15" across at the widest point. At it's most thick point, it's about 1 3/4" thick. In the recent past, a functional hook was added on the back to allow it to go up on your wall.This is well known as a WITCO item that is always a thrill to find. Over the past 30 years, I've seen images of three "WITCO Madonna" pieces and they're all slightly differen...t looking, which adds to the cache of the company since all of their work, after all, was done by hand. The artist behind the piece (Bill Westenhaver) was highly influenced by the art of Pablo Picasso in his "pop primitivism" style. Fabulously valued and appreciated many years after Westenhaver has passed on.I've now seen images of three of these "WITCO Madonna" pieces and, interestedly, they're all slightly different looking, which adds to the cache of the company since all of their work, after all, was done by hand.If you also choose to call it "WITCO Madonna", sing it in your head to the tune of "Lady Madonna" and you'll be mildly amused. Just sayin.
