For auction is an antique Chinese porcelain sleeve vase, marked near the top with a six character Ming Dynasty Jiajing mark, but dating to the early 20th century. Well-painted in the wucai style, with bright underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze enamels. Our favorite aspect of the this vase is the bat near the top, which cleverly hides a kiln crack, showcasing the ingenuity and resourcefulness of Chinese painters at the time. Red "CHINA" painted on the bottom. Drilled for a lamp, has ch...ips on the bottom edge as well as a chip in the enamel in the body, see photo with arrow.
Vase without stand is approximately 14 3/16" (30.03cm) tall, 4 3/8" (11.11cm) wide at the bottom. Original wood stand is damaged with various glue repairs and some missing wood, still presents fairly well.
