______________You are bidding on an extremely unique double spouted vessel that resembles pottery created during the early intermediate, middle Nasca era (400 CE) around the southern coast of Peru. This globular jar depicts a fantastic bird in flight with a human face and what appears to be human heads attached to an elongated reptile. Ritual beheading was a common practice in the Andes and scenes of decapitation are often painted on Nasca vessels.&nbs...p;Whereas I can't be absolutely certain without a TL (Thermoluminescence) test, I suspect this piece was probably crafted around 50 years ago for the late 20th century tourist trade; it would still make a fantastic display piece, study model, or movie prop! Approximately 6.75" tall | weight is 15.4 oz | very nice shape
