Presented is a very fine hand carved, very detailed antique Chinese mother-of-pearl shell statue w/ stand
This magnificent piece is quite old and dates at least to the early 1900's or earlier. It is very beautifully carved with three graceful elephants. There are scrolling vines and flowers throughout. The piece is in nice original condition with no major damages. The piece measures 8.5' tall by 8.5" wide, with a base thickness of 1 inch. Tapers up to thin at top, natu...rally! The MOP finish on the back of the shell is far less. (see pictures) The shell is completely stable and displays beautifully.
These pieces are not easy to fine. The older examples show much finer detail and are typically much more desirable than the newer pieces. Please ask any additional questions you might have. This is one gorgeous piece!
