This is a rare vintage Japanese copper clad ashtray from the Nikko Toshogu Shrine and National Park that measures 6.5 inches long by 4.13 inches wide by .75 inches high. The main body of the piece depicts the famous sleeping cat next to a Peony flower transom. The upper part shows another famous transom of the three wise (Hear, See and Speak No Evil) monkeys. To the right of the monkeys is featured the 97 meter high Kegon waterfall. At the base of the cat is a landmark footbridge and i...n the center is the main entrance to the shrine called Yomei Gate (Yomeimon) with the name "Nikko."
