Original Description:
1752 Very Rare Solid Silver Coffee Pot probably By William Shaw And William Priest. The hallmarks are partially rubbed but not unusual for its age. The condition is very good with the slight exception being the bone or ivory at the top of the handle moves slightly. (See pic).
Unusually this item has a couple of stuck marks to the base which I cannot identify (see pics). The item was purchased by myself with other quality items from a private estate and I am happy to share the detai...ls with the winning bidder if required.
The item has a cartouche or coat of arms which are pictured the Latin inscription underneath reads “Crescit Sub Pondere Virtus” I believe. Despite extensive research I have been unable to identify the coat of arms.
The item is sold with a realistic reserve £370 and I cannot accept less. The item is also subject to a second chance offer...It would grace any collection. It weighs approx 596 grams.I can change the delivery method depending on insurance requirements etc. For a change in fee.
