Here is a darling little wooden jewelry chest – it is finished with black lacquer and measures 3” x 4-1/4” x 2-1/2”. The chest has three drawers with wood shelving. Between each drawer; drawers have metal drawer pulls. The design over the lacquer is of a rooster (red, gold, white and blue) and a tree in which the bird nests. There is a label upper left corner - Souvenir of Strathmere, N.J. The bottom is marked Occupied R.B. Japan – ...so the chest was made prior to 1948 when occupation ended. The chest is in good condition but is dusty from years of storage and needs a good washdown. Th is could also be used as a doll’s chest for 8” dolls such as Ginny or Alexander-kins.
