Nathaniel Mills was the premier maker of Vinaigrettes. This is abeautiful piece of silver, the top is Finely Engraved with a Cathedral. Sorrybut I Cannot identify which one. This is one in the Castle Top Series. The backhas a Geometric pattern with a central cartouche with a script monogram. Theinterior is heavily gilded and the pierced grill has a scrollwork and floralmotif. The original sponge is still in the box. The vinaigrette is fullyhallmarked with the head of Queen Victoria. NM... for the noted maker NathanielMills, Anchor for Birmingham and the date letter for the year 1842-43. Theunderside of the grill is also marked. Excellentcondition, all the hinges are well made and the box closes good and tight. Thedesign is nice and crisp. Measuresapproximately, 1 5/8” x 1 ¼” x 3/8”.
