Each lid is hand painted and not the typical, stenciled kind, made by companies of the time. This was hand made from necessity and true Americana and Folk Art.
Each of the 7 primitive pantry boxes are in good shape and they all sit in a big round spice chest.
No marks ...that I can see, but I would estimate to be from the 1850's.
Some splitting wood on underside edges of large box.
Each small round spice container box lid has a hand painted design with spice name and flowers/spices.
Even the large container has decorative paintings around the body, under the cover edge. The cover has what look like Daisies in each corner around the word SPICES, along with other decorative motifs border. Even the sides of the big lid also have decorative paint.
