Original Description:
MAINSPRING WINDERFrom an old clockmakers workshop clearance... This is a really nice, traditional design mainspring winder.Despite having no recent oil - it does turn freely and click ratchet as expected.This can only improve, instantly - with a little cleaning and some OIL!! :)Looks like Ebony handle, and one spring tool (although these are easy to make to sizes you need)Cast brass body.The one mainspring tool shown removed - it fits into nose end which is 6.5mm diameter hole- so a go...od decent size for clocks like fusee etc., .
Would have flat steel bar fitted to hold spring (not here, and oddly these are nearly always removed by clockmakers, myself included as they work better without this part!!) but easy replacement part to make if you wanted to waste your time with it!!
Tool is quite hard to find in this large size.Useful tool for the restorer.All in all the pictures explain it better than I do!!!Please see pictures for best description and sizes...Any Questions?
