Early ‘70’s vintage JBL L100 loudspeakers. Believe it ornot, these were considered “bookshelf” speakers. 12” woofer, 5” mid, 1.5 “ tweeter. Original drivers. Early model withdrivers in a straight line rather than offset. I like these better since youcan lay them on their sides and still have a nice even soundstage across thestereo spectrum. Nice if you want to mount them high on a shelf. Dark walnutveneer, original spring loaded wire connectors. Minor scratches, sma...ll segments of grill frame missing, couple of flattened cornerss, new aftermarketblue, acoustically transparent foam grills. Excellent, original condition. I’mthinning out my JBL collection so these have to go. I had these in a workshopsystem for a little while so they were never pushed hard. The “L” series by JBLcapitalized on the popularity of the so-called “West Coast Sound” since moststudios mixed down on JBL Studio Monitors. The company heard that some peoplewere buying the 4310 3 way Studio Monitors for use at home so they tweaked thedesign and marketed the legendary L100. The crossovers and frequency cutoffswere changed a bit to fatten up the mids, but it was basically a home versionof the 4310. Many people could not afford a pair of L100s so JBL brought tomarket the L88 (2 way with a 12” woofer), the L36 (3 way with a 10” woofer), and the L26 (2 way with a 10” woofer). All the “L” Series JBL speakers wereproduced using the finest materials, heavy frame woofers with Alnico magnetsand could reproduce very high SPLs with a minimum of power input due to the efficiencyof the systems. These can easily be mains in a home theater system. I consideredusing these in an old school stereo system with an old Pioneer receiver andturntable but am going to use 4425 Studio Monitors instead. These are over 40years old, but they built them to last. These are heavy, 40+ lbs. per speaker, so I will pack themin separate boxes. I use custom cut blue board and bubble wrap with heavycardboard boxes so you get them in the condition they left in.
