Up for sale is a Vintage Original Circa 1961 John F. Kennedy Civil Air Patrol Commendation Poster. Condition: Good, edge wear, edge tears, soiling, handling folds at margins. Dimensions: 12" x 18". The photos above are of the item being sold.
***This item was bought more than ten years ago, along with thousands of other similar pieces from Hampton Books in Newberry, S.C. The owners of the store, Ben and Murial Hamilton were originally from Long Island, New York but decided in the la...te 1970's to move south away from the harsh winters. They bought a house from the 18th century with a barn and began selling and collecting items as disparate as 8th century Vellum Hymnals to WWI RAF Ace Pilot photo albums. Murial collected film related items and Ben chose Aviation. After both passed in the 1980's the house sat with all of it's content for years without a care taker. Finally, in the late 2000's a family friend moved in and took over the daily upkeep of the house and it's contents. With the blessing of their only son, the family friend was allowed to sell items to restore and maintain the grounds. I spent many months pulling thousands of items from the house and barn, most of which I had no clue as to it's importance or value. As a matter of fact, that is still true today. The vast majority of the items sit in a climate controlled warehouse that I periodically visit to pull items I find interesting to sell to you. Portions of the Hamilton's collection were either donated or sold during their lifetimes to esteemed institutions in the U.S. and Europe. Over the last several years I have consigned thousands of their items that have been sold at auction thru Emovieposter and Heritage Auctions.
