Original Description:
This is an old #5 Newhouse bear trap made in the 1890s in Kenwood NY.  It has strong springs and both have three line Oneida Community stamps. The pan is well marked, all teeth as well as the chain, ring  and swivel are present. The trap has a very smooth dark surface that may be old dye of some type.  Someone brushed the spring stamps and slightly scratched the finish there, otherwise the trap has a great smooth patina with essentially no pitting.
