Just a very nice box for dragon lovers, like me.
A better piece for the genre, ergo later but still antique cloisonne, has a bunch of nice touches, ball feet being one, but note the palette of colors on the top, more than most, also note the intricate branches behind the prunis buds and flowers on all 4 sides, and last, note the bottom of the feet, very smooth and worn by use and love..
Measur...es 3 3/4 by 3 by a bit over 1 3/4 inches tall. Two chips on the back on the edge near the hinge, sort of endemic to these boxes. Else, in fine condition, no losses, crazing or chips.
Early 1900's, before the art form went to pooters, post 1891, as shown by the CHINA stamp, also probably post dynastic, note the 5 toed dragon, the Imperial type that artists would get executed for using outside of the Palace back in the good ole days.
Stay tuned, I might deaccessing a few more pieces, including a Ching dynasty desk set, a killer piece, maybe more, I have to deaccession some.
