Shapleigh Hardware Diamond Edge Cushioned Strop Back Hone with Original Snap Pouch
Good antique condition! 3rd Photo is an ad from the Shapleigh’s Hardware Catalog of 1936. Text reads, "CUSHIONED BACK STROP HONE: Strop Needs No "Breaking In" or Applications of any Kind; Hone is to be Used Dry; Surface Will Not Grumble; Steel and Hone Material Will Not Roll Beneath Blade; Easily Cleaned; Every Hone Packed in a Buttoned Leatherette Case, Giving Absolute Protection and... Making it Preferable by the Traveling Man; Size: 5½ x 2 x -5/8 inch." Text on hone shows model number "DEX" and a patent date of August 1905. It appears to be in very good vintage condition for an item circa 1905 to 1939. The pouch however is showing it's age; snap snaps securely. Over time the felt has separated from the hone. I didn't want to risk reattaching it as I did not know what kind of glue to use - something for you to research and apply if desired.
