Superbrare Nenadkevichite micro crystals - Mont Saint-Hilaire – Analyzed findSize 19 x 12 x 10 mm. Weight: 0.1 oz (3 g). With MM case 0.3 oz (9 g)Regarding nenadkevichite and this specimen:Nenadkevichite is a very rare mineral. While it isknown from perhaps 20 localities, and while MSH is not the TL, almost all thephotographs of nenadkevichite onMindat are from here. In part, that may be due to the fact that, for many years(but no longer!), MSH was far more accessible to ...collectors than some of theother localities. But another reason is probably the astounding variety ofcolors and habits of nenadkevichitefound here.Thecrystals on this specimen are from a well known find of nenadkevichite that was initially mistaken for (and sold as!)“mosandrite”. But it has been determined at the ROM (Toronto), that the crystals are nenadkevichite with some minorepitactic elpidite. This specimen isan excellent example of nenadkevichite form MSH.The habitsand colors of nenadkevichite at MSH are remarkably varied. To have a“representative” collection you might need 10 or more specimens!Regarding the photos (see also minID DDK-1X0 on Mindat): The first three photos (FOV 2.3 x 3.2 mm) give a close-up of some of the best nenadkevichitecrystals on the specimen. The longest crystal is 1.9 mm long. The third ofthese photos is a “cross-eye” stereo pair – very helpful if you can fuse theimages. If you can’t do “cross-eye”, try flipping back and forth between the firsttwo photos for a different 3D effect.The next three photos (FOV 4.3 x 5.0 mm) provide abroader view showing most of the nenadkevichite crystals on thespecimen. A few of the crystals are nearly colorless. EDS analysis of a numberof other finds of completely colorless nenadkevichite has shownextensive substitution of Ti for the usual Nb of nenadkevichite. In somecases the amount of Ti suggests that the crystals are korobitsynite rather thannenadkevichite, but it would take a microprobe (WDS) to prove this. The thirdphoto is again a stereo pair. Regarding shipping etc:Single item shipping weight 3.1oz (88 g). Please use the postage calculator to estimate shipping costs toyour destination. Note that eBay and PayPal sellercharges are based on the total price - including postage and packingcosts! This adds about $2.25 to the cost of shipping to most non-USAdestinations. For small orders, I must pass most of this extra cost on to thebuyer. It is included in the shipping estimate via a “handling” charge. Forlarger orders, I generally give discounted postage. If you want to save on postage by combiningitems from this or other auctions you must wait for my invoice. I willautomatically combine items if I can. For shipments outsidethe USA, up to a total weight< 8 oz (225g), this can be combined with items from this or otherauctions for the same postage. Within the USA, the net shippingcost for total weights up to 13 oz ranges from $5.10 to $7.00 (including $0.75for packing). Above 13 oz, I will use "own box" PriorityMail. The rate, including packing and eBay/PayPal fees varies bydestination from $9 to $11.I only ship standard rate to the USA (including Puerto Rico etc), Canada, Mexico, Europe (excluding Russian Federation), Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. All other destinations, you must inquire before bidding. I will try to work with you, but insurance andfull tracking may be required. If you experience a lost package, you may be barredfrom further bidding. In my experience, there has been only one lost packageand two damaged packages out of several hundred sent. Returns are only accepted for items over $50, and thebuyer is responsible for return postage.
