A RARE DOCUMENT FROM THE TIME OF THE OTTOMAM EMPIRE. IT RECORDS TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN TURKISH AND GREEK LANDOWNERS ON THE ISLAND OF STALIMENE (LEMNOS). THE DOCUMENT BEARS A 3 PIASTER REVENUE STAMP WITH THE TUGHRA OF SULTAN ABDUL HAMID II (1876-1909) AND A CANCELLATION STAMP BEARING THE DATE 1884. THE OTTOMANS RULED LEMNOS BETWEEN 1479 AND 1912 WHEN THE ISLAND WAS KNOWN AS "STALIMENE". IN 1912 THE GREEK NAVY PUT AN END TO OTTOMAN OCCUPATION AND LEMNOS BECAME PART OF GREECE. ...>38.5 cm x 23 cm.
