A magazine sized, color cover, and 30 page Steranko showcase packed with sketches, finished drawings, and an intimate look into the creative process of one of the most celebrated visual storytellers of comic book medium. Batman, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Phoenix, and (of course Nick Fury), are right next to Sherlock Holmes (a number of pages devoted to the Holm...es illustrated novel REVENGE OF THE HOUND with title designs, character sketches, and composition variations) Shadow, and Sinbad (fully finished drawings for EYE OF THE TIGER movie posters).
What makes this really cool and interesting is that on the inside back cover, Steranko takes the time and the space to go over and comment on every page. sometimes it is a funny anecdote, sometimes it is a historical reference, but there is always a gem of insight into what makes an image powerful and why he made the graphic choices that he made. A real pleasure to look at the work and read his insights.
