This is an antique Japanese Meiji Era (c. 1880) Imari ceramic plate with a hand painted scenic design of countryside village with a mountainous backdrop. The rim is beautifully scalloped (see picture 7). The plate is also painted on the back and signed by the artist on the bottom (see pictures 8 and 11). It is made with high fired ceramics for lasting durability. Please enjoy the closeup photos to admire the finely painted details.This plate measures 9 1/2" in diameter by 1 1.../2" tall (24.1 x 3.8 cm), and having been in storage for over a century, it remains in very fine condition. Some minor casting imperfections (typical of kiln fired ceramics from the Meiji era) (see pictures 7, 8, & 9).
