His paint is flaking, mostly on head and legs due to his age; that is his only significant flaw. Someone may wish to repaint or partially repaint him. Interestingly, his composition is in excellent condition with no crazing, cracks or splits. But, his paint continues to fall off (please see photos). His low start bid is due to the condition of his aging paint.
Baby Tinye...tte, created by Effanbee in 1934, is the smallest of the Patsy family (from pg. 55 of " Patsy Doll Family Encyclopedia, Vol. II). Head marked: Effanbee; Body marked: Effanbee Baby Tinyette.
Original Tyrolean Outfit: Blue felt jacket with kelly green trim is in very good condition with no moth holes. Yellow onesie shirt is dirty, but in good condition with its little red ribbon tie. Black and green pants have two splits in the fabric that need repair (although they do not show when he just stands there). His green and ivory socks are frayed on the very top, but do not have any holes. Someone has made a replacement hat from green felt and red ribbon. It looks alright until you compare it to a real one. His black shoes are missing. The last three photos are from the Patsy book and the Doll News article to show him as he was when new.
Here is the White Horse Inn story from an article in UFDC Doll News by Ursula Mertz & Don Jensen:The original play debuted in Berlin in 1897, but was revived, updated, Americanized and opened on Broadway at Rockefeller Center on October 1, 1936. The White Horse Inn was a fictional hotel in Germany, but one hotel actually changed its name to White Horse Inn to cash in on the notoriety. Effanbee quickly obtained the rights and brought the Alpine Baby Tinyette to the 1937 Toy Fair. The White Horse Inn phase was rampant, but passed quickly; thus these little dolls were made for a very short period.
