This auction is for a rare Stieff sterling silver trencher salt cellar. It is a reproduction of a piece in the Colonial Williamsburg collection. It is 3 inches wide and 1.25" tall, weighing 63 grams. Has the post 1949 hallmark "Stieff Sterling Williamsburg Restoration R.T. 31-Y". This cellar is listed in the 1952 Stieff catalog for $9.90! (Probably did not sell too many at that price.) The starting price for this auction is 1/10th of that. With no reserve! ...;
It is in good estate found condition with a tiny ding to the top rim as shown in the lastphoto and typical light surface scuffing and fine scratches.
While intended as a salt cellar, it could be repurposed as a feeding bowl for a lucky gerbil!
