DescriptionPLEASE NOTE: Although this is a REALLY GREAT carving there is some damage to the dancing woman. She is in the middle and has lost the top half of her arm. I have made sure that you can clearly view this. I cannot see any other major damage, but there maybe smaller bits I have not seen, so please carefully check the photographs! Due to this I am selling "as seen"!Here we have a really great Chinese carving which I believe dates from the time of Mao Zedong. The figures are cer...tainly in the style of Cultural Revolution carvings I have seen, BUT I have never seen a red and gold gilt carving from that period. It features a family being entertained by traditional musicians and dancers.What makes this for me, is that initially this looks like an old traditional carving, then you realise the little boy has a toy bus (or the like). There is a bit of wire in his hand which I think represents string to pull it along.
