This auction is for an Antique Original CivilWar Confederate CSA Coat Button Rare. This button was dug in the 1980’s at the site of the  Confederate camp located near Smithfield, NC on the North Carolina and Atlantic Railroad.  This camp wasoccupied by the whole Confederate Army commanded by Joseph E. Johnston in which27, 000 Confederate troops were being assembled for over a month to stop WilliamT. Sherman's Union Army of 60, 000 at Bentonville, NC in March 1865.  Thi...scamp was occupied before and after the Battle of Bentonville.  This sitehas been heavily hunted since it was found in 1977 and is considered"Hunted Out".   This button has acrease or push across the front. It has a nice green patina that collectors andrelic hunters like to see and have in their collections.  It is listed in UniformButtons of the United States 1776-1865 by Warren K. Tice as CSG203A1 on page203. Back mark is S. Buckley & Co., Birmingham.  Manufactured inBirmingham, England. This Confederate States of America General Service buttonpossesses the rarest of all of the back marks associated with this type ofbutton.  Please see all photos forcomplete condition details.
