Rarely offered original Witzel Studios, double-weight, matte finish 7 ½” x 9 3/8” Bernard Jukes possible test shot portrait photo for the part of Renfield in the Universal horror / Bela Lugosi “Dracula”. Jukes had portrayed Renfield in the original “Dracula” Broadway stage production. This shot was “immortalized” by editor Forrest J Ackerman when it appeared as the cover for “Famous Monsters of Filmland” issue #18 mis-identified as Dwight Frye (who won the role in ...the classic film). Save for the three-hole punch on the left side, the photo would have rated as excellent condition. The photo is stamped on the reverse side “Professional Photograph by Witzel Studios” (along with various notations and stamps by prior owners).
