NOTE - some issues of condition, primarily some missing chunks of paper along the bottom edge, encroaching into the decorative border, and a horizontal edge tear at center-right - see photos. SOLD AS IS AS FOUND. Piece is in rolled up condition and will ship as such.
That said, a very scarce item in any condition from the first World's Fair of the 20th century - a fair most notable as the site of William McKinley's assassination (and his last speech). In researching this piece, I found only two examples of this type of certificate in museum collections, and no sales record. Also notable is the recipient - Ross Sterling Turner (1847-1915) was a notable Boston regionalist painter and educator, best known for landscape and nautical scenes.
A great, maybe one-of-a-kind piece - please review photos carefully to make your own determination of overall condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
