Rare Silver Medal Certificate Pan American Exposition 1901 Buffalo Ross S Turner

You're bidding on a nice, antique award certificate - 18 3/4" X 15" dimensions - Silver Medal award from the Pan-American Exposition, Buffalo, NY A.D. 1901. "The Directors, upon the recommendation of their superior jury, confer their award of a Silver Medal on Ross S. Turner for Water Color Painting". Great graphic design of a beautiful young, possibly Native American woman extending a pine bough in her outstretched hand - with a tiny buffalo atop her hat, in front of Niagra Falls. Sea...l of the Fair near center-bottom, flanked by the signatures of the fair executives.
NOTE - some issues of condition, primarily some missing chunks of paper along the bottom edge, encroaching into the decorative border, and a horizontal edge tear at center-right - see photos. SOLD AS IS AS FOUND. Piece is in rolled up condition and will ship as such.
That said, a very scarce item in any condition from the first World's Fair of the 20th century - a fair most notable as the site of William McKinley's assassination (and his last speech). In researching this piece, I found only two examples of this type of certificate in museum collections, and no sales record. Also notable is the recipient - Ross Sterling Turner (1847-1915) was a notable Boston regionalist painter and educator, best known for landscape and nautical scenes.
