The amethyst or purple vase is unique in that it's not clear with a color wash over it, both of these vases are blown in the purple or green glass they are. The purple one measures 7" in height, and the geometric silver design (which I have not polished) is in keeping with the elegant shape and period of the piece. There are a few rub marks on the silver ...from being polished over the years, it's wearing through, however the frosted glass exterior is mint. There are NO chips, scratches, or other damage aside from slight silver loss over 130 years worth of handling. If you know glass, you know how rare it is to manufacture purple glass that's consistent in color, no fading, no variations, etc. This is a beautiful piece. The top and bottom rims are also silver overlay.
The green vase has a flower design Sterling Silver overlay. The silver is perfect (not polished in the photos)- but there is a small chip to the rim as shown in the photo. The vase measures just short of 6" six inches in height. The frosted exterior is perfect, there are no scratches or other damage except as noted above.
I do not know the origin of this pair. They came from one estate, and I was told they could be from Austria, France, or some other European country. They are not American, I am pretty sure. Unsigned, unfortunately, so we may never know.
This is a wonderful pair of PERIOD ART NOUVEAU glass vases, very well executed, probably by the same manufacturer given the style and quality. You will be impressed!
