GUARANTEED!) ♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫ With Ringo, Ringo Starrfinally put his solo career in gear in 1973, after serving notice withback-to-back Top Ten singles in 1971 and 1972 that he had more to offer thanhis eccentric first two solo albums. Ringo was a big-budget pop album producedby Richard Perry and featuring Ringo's former Beatles bandmates as songwriters, singers, and instrumentalists. On no single track did all four appear, thoughGeorge Harrison played the guitars on the John Lennon-penned leadoff track"I'm the Greatest, " with Lennon playing piano and singing harmony.But it wasn't only the guests who made Ringo a success: Ringo advanced his owncause by co-writing two of the album's Top Ten singles, the number one"Photograph" and "Oh My My." The album's biggest hit was asecond chart-topper, Ringo's cover of the old Johnny Burnette hit "You'reSixteen." Songs like "Have You Seen My Baby, " a Randy Newmansong with guitar by Marc Bolan, and Ringo and Vini Poncia's "DevilWoman" were just as good as the hits. Ringo's best and most consistent newstudio album, Ringo represented both the drummer/singer's most dramaticcomeback and his commercial peak. Although not credited to "The Beatles", Ringo’s self-titled 1973album was the next-to-the-last album on which ALL FOURBEATLES APPEAR, whether individually or in some combinations. This is by far the single greatestRingo Starr recording and the only one that can really measure up to the otherclassic solo works by John, Paul and George and/or all four. And you are notgoing to believe the list of other Rock stars that play on this album. The listreads like Noah"s Ark of Rock"n"Roll. I mean, practically the only Rock star missing is Elvis, and he’dprobably just left the building when this was recorded. This is an All-Starr band (pun intended), if ever we'd met one.
