I buy vintage linens at local estate auctions to pass them along to you, and I always look for antique clothing and accessories. I've just found a wonderful lot from the 1900s with some real treasures.
This is an antique hand crocheted bedspread. It's made of cotton crochet and is quite heavy, weighing 5 pounds 12 ounces! This measures 96" long by 94" wide, so it will fit a double (full) bed or a queen. It has a complicated pattern with large stars about 9" s...quare, and in the center of each there is a 1" wide three dimensional rose, like Irish crochet. These stars alternate with squares and floral diamonds. All around the edges there is a 7.5" band of a difference star pattern that ends with triangle points. This edging band is gathered at the corners for a smooth drape, as shown. The fabric is smooth and heavy and quite lovely. Please use the zoom function to see all the great details.
This came to the auction in a dry cleaners' bag, and is clean and in great condition. It has no stains or rips or funky odors. I have given it a thorough examination and found one break in the crochet, as shown in the second to last photo, and also one area near the edge that has two small smudges as shown in the last photo. I've used the ruler as a pointer so look at the end of the ruler. That's all - no other damage. This has such an heirloom look! I will ship it by USPS priority, so I've included shipping cost in the price.
