Scarce and stunning antique stew pot or similar vessel, Northeastern United States (Pennsylvania or New England), early 19th century, the wheel-thrown redware body of slightly bulbous form with everted circular rim and applied handle, both the neck and the handle with two narrow incised bands, the exterior with manganese splotches, 5-3/4" tall by 4-1/2" in diameter overall at the rim. A few tiny typical rough spots to rim (noted only for strictest accuracy), otherwise very fine conditi...on, with no cracks or chips and rich, deep, pleasing reddish-brown coloration.A superlative example in an exceedingly scarce state of near-perfect preservation.
