EXTREMELY RARE, VINTAGE M&m ' S CANDY COATED CHOCOLATE - U. S. Army PX MATCHBOOK
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:2018002 |
This auction is for an m&m's advertising item which, as far as I've been able to determine, is a 'one of a kind' still in existence. I've never been able to find another collector (of either m&m's or matchbook memorabilia) who has one.
The front of the matchbook shows the m&m's candies (without the 'm' on them!). This indicates that it is VERY early, as does the company's noted location of Newark, N.J. The back of the item, shows two servicemen leaving the m&m'...s female saleswoman, stating "THEY SHOULD CALL HER 'M&M'...ALWAYS TEMPTING BUT WON'T MELT IN ANY WEATHER!"
The matchbook obviously shows some signs of aging and surface-wear (see the attached photos), but considering its rarity and age, it is in remarkably good condition.
If you have any questions, please email me.
I ONLY SHIP WITHIN THE UNITED STATES.

He noted: "The cover can be dated by its manumark (the text line right under the striker), but only to a range of years. That particular manumark was used by Lion Match CO. from 1938-1958. The odds are it's a 1940's cover."
