Beautiful solid silver belt buckle with guilloche enamel rim
and painted floral decoration. Circa 1900.
This charming enamelled silver belt buckle is unmarked but acid tests for sterling silver and is decorated with a blue guilloche enamel rim and two painted floral enamel panels. I would guess that it dates from circa 1900-1910 as it looks Edwardian to me and possibly French?. It is in very good condition with no damage
apart from a tiny bit of missing enamel at the... edge of one panel, which is where the enamel hasn't quite
flooded the silver rather than it being broken. It is also missing the other half of the buckle as you can see
from the photos, although I don't think it would much to repurpose it into a brooch by adding a pin to the back and it is still a very decorative and beautiful cabinet display piece as it is now.
It measures 48 mm tall and 45 mm wide and weighs 17 grammes.
