Original Description:
Antique 5 string banjo made somewhere between Civil War and 1890. It was in the same family for years and was used during the Civil War by a family member from Kentucky. I’m assuming confederate. Painted name on the back of the neck is“ John Erving, Madison KY Dec 1878-1901 “ ( or 1904)I have been told, by the restorer, that the neck and body could be as old as Civil War era with modifications over the years. This Banjo is in perfect working order, structurally sound and has just... been serviced. Sounds great. The head is brand new and was professionally aged and installed.
