Here's a hard to find Old Dr.Solomon's Rheumatic Drops bottle from a famous traveling medicine show man called Old Dr.James Solomon, The Great Indian Doctor....(who was, by the way, neither a doctor nor an indian)OLD DR.SOLOMON'S / RHEUMATIC DROPS (bold emb on opp. side panels).....Hand blown in mold.....hand tooled square ring collar....aqua...rect with 3 sunken panels....5 1/4"tall....Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean bottle with only some light res...idue in corners. Dr.James M.Solomon, of Attleboro, Massachusetts began selling his Rheumatic Drops, along with Old Dr.Solomon's Indian Wine Bitters by 1870. The reknowned Dr.Solomon styled himself as "The Great Indian Doctor" and would travel around from town to town selling his medicines from his big medicine wagon, which had Old Dr.Solomon's Rheumatic Drops advertised on its side boldly. He would place an ad in a local newspaper ahead of his 2 or 3 week visit to town to inform the public of his wondrous cures and tell of his live indian show. One ad that I saw from an 1885 newspaper touts the following....."Dr.Solomon is a natural born physician. He can locate your disease without asking any questions.....The doctor wishes to state that if any one having a tapeworm will call and see him, he will make the price satisfactory and warrant a success.....In connection with the lecture a band of indians will give a concert every night in the hall."
