Winders7 2Antique Carved Bone Thread Winders English* Circa1850 Theseantique silkwinders are carved of bone*. One is round with scooped out indentationsand the other has scalloped edges. The round one is almost 1 3/8" indiameter and the other is 1 3/8" x 1 1/2". Bothare in excellent condition.
Similar winders are shown on page163 of Gay Ann Rogers' book, AnIllustrated History of Needlework Tools. They were boughtin England and were pro...bably part of a workbox.
*Theseitems are made of bone from a domestic cow (bovine) and not from anendangered species.
