Prattware Pot Lid Bellevue Tavern Pegwell Bay Kent c 1845-1875Description:This is a charming mid-19th. Century Prattware pot lid entitled "PegwellBay", established 1760". It depicts a small village led to by a sandypath, with the Bellevue tavern prominent by the edge of a sheer cliff face andboats at sea in the background. This is an early (if not the first) pot lid ina series devoted to this fishing / resort area. It measures 4" dia.approx. and is in excellent condition, althoug...h there are two very small chips on the base of the inner flange (notsee when looking to face side), bright colors, no crazing.It isbelieved that this lid came from a Prattware jarthat once would have marketed a shrimp paste.SEE PHOTOGRAPHS
