Color poster of a children playing on the bright green grass with the shadow of the swaztika approaching them. Designed by Lawrence Beall Smith, the reader is implored to support the war effort to keep the German march in check. In 1942, shortly after Americas entry into WW2, Beall created this poster, first in a long series of War Bond post...ers accepted by Abbot Laboratories and adopted for official use. Beall was listed as an artist-correspondent for Abbott in 1943 and had an extensive look aboard an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean during the early part of the war.
I am now working deep in my collection and getting to some of the very collectible posters. Due the very dynamic artwork, this would be in the top 10 posters that one would have to have in their collection. It might not be the most valuable WW2 poster, but it is one that is a must have for any serious collector.
39"h x 28" W Poster is in very good condition with very strong colors with little to no fading. There is one small defect at one of the center crease marks that should be repairable with mounting and restoration.
About the SellerI am not a dealer in the traditional sense of the word, in that we buy and sell product to make a profit. Every item in this collection has been in my family since it was acquired in the 1940s. These posters were collected by both my grandfather and my father and have been in my family from the beginning and we are the original owners. We have what we believe to be one of the largest private collections of WW 2 posters in the country today. It is only now that we find ourselves in the process of trying to simplify our lives and minimize our collections of stuff. We are now trying to make these historical documents available to those that have a desire to have and best examples of original World War 2 propaganda artwork available.
All posters are guaranteed to be authentic originals with no reproductions. What is listed is by far everything we have, and will continue to add new posters as time permits.
