Description
This is a Leica Barnark Model Ia in great condition. Literally the best condition I have ever seen for Ia. It is the first mass-production Barnark Type Camera. The serial number is 18309 and the condition of it is amazingly good condisering its 80+ age and its early serial number. All the speeds seem work properly but not film tested. The cold-shoe is a round shape one other than flat style that I previous had under SN. 3XXXX. The lens is also in great condition with no scratches on the front element. Aperture ring turns smoothly. The only "flaw" should be mentioned is the engraving on the bottom plate reads: "Old Faithful - L.Bradley". Well, I think Mr. Bradley is definitely right about this camera. It also comes with a rare to see black paint front cap for the lens and even the original leather case! This is the first time I see a leather case for Ia, I believe it to be rare. Generally speaking, I have never seen any Ia in such great finish, the black paint is intact, there is not a lot of brassing we usually on Ia and the vulcanite is also intact. This early made camera is just well kept. Thanks again Mr. Bradley, I forgive you about the engraving this time. If you do not like the engraving, you can do a repaint anyway.
