Up for auction is an original, experimental Close Combat Uniform (CCU) from the 2003 Future Force Warrior uniform trials conducted by the US Army in conjunction with Natick Labs. This uniform came directly from a Stryker Brigade soldier stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington (now JBLM) and has seen minimal wear. Shirt size is Large Long, and trousers are also Large Long. The camouflage pattern was called "urban tracks" and was in the running to replace woodland and desert patterns in use ...by the US Army since 1981, although it was ultimately not adopted. JACKET:Size Large/Long (41" to 45" chest). Features a full zipperfrontal closure, with hook/loop patches to secure the flap over the zipper, aMandarin-type collar secured with a hook/loop tab, cuffs with 2" hook/loop securing straps instead of buttons, two chest pockets (with hook/loop closingflaps aligned vertically), and diagonally-aligned upper sleeve bellows pockets(covered by "loop" in olive green for affixing insignia). Theelbow region has pockets that will accept close-celled foam pads inserts. As with most issued CCUs, the originalpads are missing and not included with this auction. This jacket isin very good condition, with minimal fading and no serioussoiling, rips, tears or repairs.TROUSERS:Size Large/Long (35" to 39" waist). These feature regular type beltloops plus a drawcord system at the waist, two slash waist pockets at thefront, and very large, bellowed cargo pockets with a diagonally aligned flapthat secures with hook/loop fastener. The opening to this pocket can be "cinched"by means of an internal cord of black elastic with a cordura nylon push-buttonadjuster. Like the elbows on the jacket, the knee region can be protected byclose-celled foam pads inserts, which fit into pocket at each knee. The original pads were removed from thepockets and are not included with this auction. There are also smaller pocketsat each calf that could probably hold a single magazine or equivalent sizedobject. The bottom cuffs are adjustable with ribbed nylon cords, and the seatof the trousers is reinforced in typical BDU-fashion.
