The information provided with this item states it is an Allegheny Arsenal plate found in the river in Sequatchie, TN. There was a lot of items from this area in the collection we purchased from several different relic hunters. Believe them all to be from the Wheeler's raid event. Confederate General Wheeler raided and destroyed around a thousand Union supply wagons in this raid. It was reported that thousands of mules and horses were slaughter by saber or bayonet during this event.... Well over a million horses and mules were killed during the American Civil War compared to the estimated 750, 000 soldiers.
