Everything in the book is end-noted with specific references unlike other books on the subject that are just assertions and BS. The Author used original US Archives documents and original period letters and accounts for his information on makers contracts, numbers made, construction techniques, fakes and forgeries. Over 50 makers... are identified with all of the variations of each type. You will not be disappointed with this book and it will make you an instant expert on American Cavalry and Artillery sabers. It is a must have for Civil War collectors, arms collectors and sword collectors. It is a 5 star book and if I could I'd give it 10 stars. An excellent condition reference book compiled in 2001 by the nation’s top sword experts. As close to NEW condition as you could hope to find. I’m told by very reliable insiders that there’s no chance of a “re-printing” anytime soon, and maybe never. These are going to become even more impossible to buy than they are now.
