GENERAL INFORMATION: SOLIDO die-cast metal cars, manufactured in France, has long been known for having fine, realistic detail. Beginning in 1964, SOLIDO introduced their L'Age d'or (Golden Age) line of vintage automobiles. Modeling "vintage" cars had the advantage that they "never grew out of date". The L'Age d'or series was among the first die-cast model cars marketed for "adults" as well as for "children". SOLIDO produced only "three" (3) Packard cars in this series - all 1937 Packard Model "Super-Eight": a four-door sedan (SOLIDO #4047), a cabriolet two-door coupe with the convertible top in the "up" position (#4037), and the cabriolet two-door coupe with the convertible top in the "down" position (#4099). This US Army staff car is a "modified" # 4047. These cars are made of metal and plastic parts (with rubber wheels), and are highly detailed for their 1/43 scale. Note that this size - to model railroaders - is known as "O" scale. The model car itself is approximately 5 1/2 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide, and 1 1/2 inches high. I do not believe that the model car has ever been out of the box. The box itself may show some signs of shelf wear. Please view the pictures.
