Images one through three show contemporary shots of a pair of my stock specimen plants used forbreeding. Bright orange petioles and leaf veins developed under cool, brightgrowing conditions stating at about three years of age from seed and are shown onmy plants in images four and five. You are bidding on a young seed-grown plantshown in the sixth through eighth images, planted in abark + perlite + treefern + charcoal mix in a 3.5"/9 cm plastic pot.Anthurium ivanportillae is a gorgeous ...and extremely rare tropicalaroid species that is restricted to lower middle elevation cloud forests of theZamora-Chinchipe Province of SE Ecuador. One of the most spectacular of all tropicalaroid species with characteristic, near unique “dragon wing” basal lobes ontheir magnificent, bullate leaves. It is very rare in the wild and has onlybeen collected on a handful of occasions. Although young plants showcharacteristic leaves from early on, mature plants can be quite large – with leavesto almost 4’/1.20 m in length - so this should be taken into account whenplanning future space requirements. My plants are seedlings of a 2015 cross oftwo artificially cultivated plants that shown in the first images and are directdescendants of the type series. The plant offered is beginning to show thefirst evidence of the magnificent, bullate, glossy leaves that arecharacteristic of this species. This species is of surprisingly easy pot culture underintermediate to hot tropical conditions but can handle brief spells ofovernight low temperatures at least into the high 40s F with no visible damage. It prefers good quality water andrelatively high humidity. It must be sheltered from wind. Please note thatrecent interest in this species has prompted exporters and resellers to offerany similar-looking Sect. Belolonchium species as A. ivanportillae. Ihave recently looked at plants sold in the U.S. that do not represent thisspecies so buyer beware.
