RARE VINTAGE GERMAN LITHOGRAPHED PUMPKIN HEAD NOISEMAKER
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:20569666 | Country/Region of Manufacture: Germany |
This wonderful and early German lithographed noisemaker (actually it is an instrument) is very well done and is an incredible work of ingenuity. It has a wooden mouthpiece that is attached to the black mouthpiece that is attached to tan orange well molded ribbed pumpkin. The top of the pumpkin is covered in a lithographed pumpkin man face with wonderful black line triangles intermittently facing each other surrounding the outside of the face. The face has oval eyes that are blue and a red nose and a red mouth with white teeth. Extremely well done and stamped “GERMANY” on the bottom on his chin. The piece is in near mint condition with sight crazing here and there. The horn still WORKS but what makes this piece absolutely outstanding is the fact that it not only still plays, but you use the stopper (the flap in the front with a pull string) to vary the sound of the horn. An amazing piece of German design creativity/genius on this early Halloween toy/instrument. The piece measures 3 ¾” tall x 2 ½” wide and is the reason why early German Halloween craftsmanship is so sought after by modern day collectors and is so appealing to the public in general when they are shown or when they see these marvelous pieces of craftsmanship and ingenuity. This piece really has the WOW FACTOR!!!!!!!
