Description: Haller Robert (1874-1954) Chemist Swissclub of chemists’ colorists’ medal by HugueninThismedal is an original period medal not re-strikes.Ref: Eng4923 Engraver: Huguenin:Medals, the be-all and end-all of a family and company existenceIn1868 two young craftsmen, Fritz Huguenin, engraver, and his brotherAlbert, engine turner, set up a small watchcase-decorating workshop.Veryquickly they grasped how much benefit... they could derive from thestrikingprocess and purchased their first balance-wheel. Thus, they issuedtheirfirst medal in 1888. Gradually the Huguenin brothers specialised inthe"Niel" method of decorating silver cases in black, which made themfamousin the whole world.1899saw the transition of crafts to industry with the construction startofthe current plant. The company was then taken over by the three sonswhodeveloped new products, particularly shooting awards.WorldWar I and the Crisis of the Thirties, during which silver pocketwatcheswere replaced by the stainless steel wrist watches, severely affectedthecompany, which led to its becoming a public limited company in 1934:HugueninBrothers & Co. S. A.Thecompany then went on enjoying significant growth in both fields ofwatchcasesand medals. The watchcase business was sold to a new companyalsoin 1955.In1968, the year of its centenary, the company was given a more suitablecorporatename: Huguenin Medailleurs S.A. Directed by a member of thethirdgeneration of the Huguenin family, the thus rejuvenated companyhasbeen entering into the second century of its existence with confidenceanddynamism.In1987 the company changed hands with the then CEO, Pierre-AndréZanchibuying back the majority of shares (in spite of this, the family, representedby Paul Huguenin, still holds a sufficient amount of stakestoensure a smooth running of business operations).In1992 HUGUENIN made and launched the first mints with a colourimprint.In1999 a first merger took place with Kramer headquartered in Neuchatel.In2002 Huguenin + Kramer joined with Faude, giving birth to the currentcompanyFaude & Huguenin SA.
