Up for your consideration today is this NAMED, BEAUTIFUL, 100% ORIGINAL World War 2 U.S. Army Nurse Corps OD uniform cape. This is a BEAUTIFUL example of a scarely-encountered item. This is NAMED example, being named to an "Ada D. Moore". I have not done any research on this veteran, but this would be a great research project! As we have just celebrated the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion, what better time than now to add this uniform t...o your collection!
This item is in FANTASTIC shape for it's age and is in near-mint condition. It is made of heavy OD wool, and does not have any moth holes that I have found. I do note a couple of VERY small areas of scuffing of the wool where there is a bit of surface loss that does not extend deep into the garment. The cape has a beautiful name tape bearing the nurse's name sewn into the collar. The bottom hem stitching is tight and complete. Of note, the original button for the collar closure has been replaced, though this is an easy fix as one can simply add-back a WW2 period button and this will restore the garment back to original condition. There is some stitching loss along the inside of the collar which appears to have been partially wartime-repaired, though has persisted as there is about a 5-inch section of the inside of the collar where the stitching has come loose. This does not extend to the outside of the garment and is not visible at all when the cape is in wear. Thus, this slight bit of age-related damage does not detract from the rarity or value of this item at all. Overall, this is an incredibly beautiful example of a WW2 U.S. Army nurse cape. These are not commonly encountered and hold their value very well! Don't let this one get away, add it to your collection TODAY!
